The government appears to be sleeping as if nothing is happening at Sri Lanka Cricket where a free for all is taking place. We had Thilanga Sumathipala, Jayanatha Dharmadasa, Arjuna Ranatunga and everybody else but this is the worst Interim Committee or is the Permanent Committee that is running the cricket board.
The Daily Mirror report how the secretary had been paid Rs. 3 million as allowances for foreign tours spoke of everything that is happening in the cricket board. This is why everyone wants to get into the board to play-out in style and the government does not want to let go its hold on the cricket board in favour of an election as they will lose their own stakes in the board. They can continue appointing their people who will continue to loot, plunder and abuse their posts in the cricket.
Former Sports Minister Jeewan Kumaranatunga should take full blame for all the rot taking place at Sri Lanka Cricket. It was he who sacked an elected board and appointed his stooges into an interim committee to run the cricket board after he accused them of mismanaging funds. Where is that report into Jeewan’s probe into the accounts of the cricket board. It is not made public because it will only expose the government further.
If an elected membership was removed on false charges of corruption by Jeewan I wonder what should be done to today’s administrators who have been exposed with documentary evidence by the Daily Mirror.
