Sri Lanka cuts budget for Australia tour

Sri Lanka’s cash-strapped cricket administration has slashed the budget for Australia’s tour but the island’s sports minister says security won’t be compromised.

But minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage has ordered the SLC to trim the security bill by about 80 per cent.

The overall budget has been halved.

Australia are due to play three Tests, five one-day matches and two Twenty20 games during the tour from August 6 to September 20.
