New Zealand bat, two debutants for Zimbabwe

Toss New Zealand chose to bat v Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe will take the field first as they try to avoid an ODI series whitewash against New Zealand. The hosts were also looking to stave off the ignominy of a 13th straight international defeat, having not won a match since the third ODI against Bangladesh in August. They have also failed to achieve a single victory in Bulawayo this season.

With their inability to bowl New Zealand out once so far, Zimbabwe named two new caps in their starting XI. Twenty-year-old legspinner Natsai M'shangwe replaced Prosper Utseya and local lad Njabula Ncube came in for Chris Mpofu.

New Zealand have enjoyed a successful time in Zimbabwe, particularly with the bat. They rested opener Martin Guptill, who scored a century in the second ODI, allrounder James Franklin and seamer Doug Bracewell. Jesse Ryder returned after recovering from a stomach bug while Nathan McCullum will be able to make use of the spin friendly conditions. Luke Woodcock was also in the starting line-up.
