Toss New Zealand chose to bat v Bangladesh
|
Legspinner Ish Sodhi and left-arm seamer Corey Anderson
were handed first Test caps as New Zealand won the toss and chose to
bat in the opening Test against Bangladesh in Chittagong. The inclusion
of Anderson meant that Neil Wagner, the left-arm seamer, was left left
out from the XI.
Marshall Ayub,
the No 3 batsman, was also included for the first time by Bangladesh,
but the team decided to opt for Abdur Razzak over Mahmuddulah.
The newly-laid pitch in Chittagong is expected to be dry and good for
batting initially, but it is also likely to favour slower bowlers. The
weather had held up for the last couple of days in Chittagong as the sun
shone, but there is a chance of rain interruption later in the
afternoon.
